IP-Guard Version 3 Installation Guide
1. Database Installation
 IP-guard database uses SQL Server 2000 SP4 or SQL Server 2005 SP1 or above. If SQL Server is not available, user can download MSDE SP4 or SQL 2005 Express SP1 from Microsoft website for free.

MSDE installation steps：
1) Double click the MSDE executable. It will prompt for an extract folder. Select a folder for the installation files to extract to.       
2) In the extract folder, open the setup.ini file from the MSDE folder.

Edit the file as the following：

Save the file
3) Run setup.exe under MSDE folder to start MSDE installation.
When installing SQL Server, please select default instance. 

 

4) Configure the server

Run the SQL Server network utility. Open a command prompt and type:

C:\> svrnetcn.exe

Enable the “Named Pipes” protocol and the “TCP/IP” protocol. Click on “Properties” on the “TCP/IP” protocol. Here, you will configure the default port MSDE will be listening on if you want network access. Default is 1433.

 

Notice that if you are using Microsoft SQL Server 2000, please makes sure that it is updated with the Service Patch 4: SQL2000-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU.EXE

 

SQL 2005 Express

•      Windows Installer 4.5

•      .NET Framework 3.5 (Vista or above, please use .NET Framework 3.5 SP1)

•      Windows Power Shell 1.0 (if using SQL Server 2008 Express Advanced, this component required to install manually)

2. IP-guard server and console installation
Download URL for IP-guard 3 full feature trial version：Please contact us if you do not know the download link
Trial version can monitor 5 workstations for 30 days.


Server must be installed on Win2000 SP4/XP SP2/2003 SP1 or above. If the server is installed on Windows 2000 SP4, please make sure SP4 update rollup - Win2000-KB891861-v2-x86-CHS.exe update patch is installed.
When installing IP-guard server, the installation program will detect the environment including Operating system and SQL Server version. If installation failed, please follow the error message to fix the installation environment. If the server cannot start or not running normally, please check  Event Viewer” to investigate the problem�n from “Computer Manager”. 
[Attention] Console requires input for server address, user account, and password.       (Default account for administrator: admin; Auditor: audit; Blank password)
 
3. IP-guard Agent installation
 Agent can be installed using the installation kit generated from Agent Installation Generator or running Agent Remote Installer directly from IP guard server.
 [Attention] Agent can be uninstalled from console by selecting Uninstall Agent or deleting the computer.
